Public Printmaking Event, March 27th, 2009

The printmaking students at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College believe that art is the heart and soul of every community and so they hosted an all ages public printmaking event on March 27th, 2009, at the Fine Arts Building Atrium and Print Studio. Everyone was invited to come and participate or just observe the students employing and demonstrating a variety of traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques including: etching, drypoint, photogravure, woodcut, linocut, stone lithography, monotype, water-based silkscreen and digital approaches. The students gave away their printed artworks. As well, works by the student artists was displayed to exemplify the vitality of printmaking today. There was snacks, refreshments and music. Ultimately, the students promoted awareness and understanding of print media, and encouraged all to participate in making prints!
